Prints by Jordan Vigil on display in 'Apexe' the annual BGSU MFA exhibit now in the School of Art galleries through April 22. Gallery hours are Tuesday - Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.and Sundav 1 - 4 p.m.

Coffee & Climb social event at Swayer Quarry, April 20

The Ohio Climbers Coalition will hold a Coffee and Climb meet and greet at the Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to  noon. All are welcome. Register at wcparks.org.

Arrive anytime during the program to connect with local climbers, members of the Ohio Climbers Coalition, and the Wood County Park District. Coffee and doughnuts will be served in the setting of the climbing faces inside the quarry. Climbers can bring their own gear for self-guided climbing at their own risk after the event. Waivers to participate in climbing are available at the park kiosk.

Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve is located at 26940 Lime City Road, Perrysburg. The preserve and all of the 21 parks and preserves in the Wood County Park District system are free and open daily from 8 a.m. until 30 minutes past sunset.

Student rush tickets available for ‘Ragtime,’ April 19 & 21

Student rush tickets will be available for the Toledo Opera’s production of the musical “Ragtime,” Friday, April 19, 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, April  21 at 2 p.m. at the Vantage Theatre in downtown Toledo.

The tickets available at the door, cash only, 90 minutes before each show.

The musical is based on a novel by E.L. Doctorow with book by Terrence McNally, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty.

Tickets on sale for ‘The Addams Family Musical!’ at BGHS, April 18-21

Tickets are on sale for Bowling Green High School’s production o the kooky, family-friendly adventures of Broadway’s “The Addams Family Musical!”

 Performances are Thursday, April 18, Friday, April 19 and April 20 at 7 p.m. and  Sunday April 21 at 3 p.m. in the BG Performing Arts Center.

 Seventy talented cast, crew and orchestra members have been working tirelessly to bring this popular musical to life.

Library book sale, April 19-21

The Wood County District Public Library’s Friends of the Library are hosting a book sale on Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21 in Meeting Room A&B at the Bowling Green Library.

Dates and times are:
Friday, April 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 21 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.

Presentation to address the ins and outs of recycling, April 24

Join the Wood County District Public Library and the Wood County Solid Waste Management District for Recycle Right on Wednesday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. in Meeting Room A & B at the Bowling Green Library

Rachel Sizer from the Wood County Solid Waste Management District will discuss the ways to maximize sustainability efforts, reduce contamination, and ensure that what goes into the recycling bin belongs there.

Dave Sharp Worlds Quartet to perform show at Owens, April 25

The Dave Sharp Worlds Quartet will perform an Accent on the Arts concert  Thursday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, 7270 Biniker Road, Perrysburg, on the Owens Community College Toledo Campus. 

The Dave Sharp Worlds Quartet “masterfully blends rhythms, sounds, and textures from across the globe.” Featuring oud, violin, electric bass, synthesizer, and world percussion, they are fueled by the spirit of jazz, world music and improvisation.

Before the concert, beginning at 6:30 in the Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery attendees can also visit  “Gratitude,” a solo exhibition by Tamara Monk and “Passages,” the gallery’s Juried High School Art Show.

Wood County Park District springs into action with a variety of programs & volunteer opportunities

‘Marisol: A Retrospective’ continues at the Toledo Museum through June 2

“Marisol: A Retrospective,” an exhibit featuring work from throughout the artist’s 60-year career, including “The Party” from the museum’s collection, will be on view through June 2. The cost of admission to “Marisol” is $10.

According to the museum:  “Marisol’s influence reverberates through the corridors of history, and this retrospective is a testament to her enduring impact. With more than 240 works on display, spanning from her iconic sculptures, drawings, photographs, to intimate self-portraits, the exhibition invites viewers on a journey through her artistic evolution. Each piece offers a profound reflection on a myriad of themes, including politics, gender norms, and ecological and societal concerns, encapsulating the spirit of an era marked by social upheaval and cultural transformation.”

Community Drum Circle meets 2nd & 4th Sundays

Community Drum Circle will be held second and fourth Sundays starting Jan. 15 and continuing through April 28 from 5-6 p.m. at the Maumee Valley Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 20189 N. Dixie Highway, Bowling Green.

All ages and experience levels are welcome. Instruments are available. “We’re a very informal group with minimal leadership. Our goal is to have fun and create fabulous musical rhythms and sounds together.”
