Robert Dean Hepfinger (The Candy Man) passed away peacefully in the company of family on July 4, 2016. He was born November 22, 1922 in Bowling Green, Ohio. He attended and Graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1940, and attended BGSU. He joined the US army 1943 Fought in the Battle of Rhineland Ardennes/Central Europe and finely stationed in Ipswich, England with 8th Air force 493rd Bomb group As surgical Tech. Decorations and metals Include Good conduct medal, American Campaign Medal European African Middle Eastern service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged on December 5th 1945. An entrepreneur of many businesses he started working a sales representative for many confectionary manufactures and owned the business which lasted for over 30 years. He lived in Bowling Green his entire life. He delivered and carried the Sentinel Tribune as a paperboy. He and his wife Helen enjoyed traveling throughout the world. He survived his wife Helen Southwick Hepfinger by two years, and is survived by many nieces and nephews throughout the United States. Services and interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery Friday July 8th at 11:00 am. This will be a graveside service as requested. Pastor John Randall will officiate followed by Military Honors conducted by the Wood County Honor Detail. Dunn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
