Can you feel the AfterBurn?
It’s getting hot in here! Mark the calendar for Friday, Oct. 5 because the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Wood County will be hosting its AfterBurn, a 5K run/walk followed by a chili cook-off. This event will be held at the Wood County Fairgrounds from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
Registration will open at 4:30 p.m. with the 5K beginning at 6 p.m. Shortly after, the chili cook-off will commence at 6:30 p.m. If running is not something that sounds intriguing, then grab some chili and participate in the free Glow Walk at 8 p.m.
Agency tables and other family friendly activities such as a hay maze, face painting, and crafts will also be open to attendants, free of charge.
Pre-registration for the 5K is $35 and can be done at http://namiwoodcountyafterburn.itsyourrace.com/event.aspx?id=11321. Early registers will also receive a race shirt and a glow stick for the Glow Walk.
Participants can register their chili recipe for $10, and tickets will be sold for tastings at $5 for five tastings.
Parking will be available by the Junior Fair Building, and overflow parking will be in the Poe Road lot.
