Mohammad Dadfar

Mohammad B. Dadfar, 74, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 16, 2025, in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Born on March 29, 1951, in Tehran, Iran, Mohammad discovered his passion for teaching and mentoring during his elementary school years. He pursued a degree in Physics at the University of Tehran before moving to the United States for graduate studies. There, he earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Binghamton University, which marked the beginning of a lifelong career in academia.

In 1981, Mohammad joined the faculty at Bowling Green State University. What was intended to be a temporary position soon became a permanent home. Captivated by the community, students, and colleagues, he remained at BGSU for over three decades, retiring in 2012 after 31 years of dedicated teaching.

Mohammad will be remembered not only for his passion in the classroom but also for his warmth, humor, and deep love for people. He had a lifelong enthusiasm for tennis and movies, and he thrived in the company of others. Exceptionally skilled in Persian calligraphy, he also took great pride in sharing Iranian cultural traditions with the Northwest Ohio community.

After being diagnosed with a brain tumor in his mid-40s, Mohammad met his health challenges with an unwavering resilience. That strength allowed him to embrace life fully—traveling the world with his wife, celebrating his children’s weddings, and cherishing moments with his grandson. He had a joyful spirit, and was always quick to smile and even quicker to laugh.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marzieh Aarabi; his daughter, Sameen Dadfar (Jon Groleau); his son, Davood Dadfar (Oumaima Moujahid); his grandson, Rosstam Jad Dadfar; and his cherished extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home in Bowling Green, Ohio. All who knew and loved Mohammad are invited to attend and share their memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a health-related nonprofit of your choice in memory of the deceased.
