BG Exchange Club donates crayons and coloring books for library’s summer reading program

BG Exchange Club members donate coloring items to bookmobile.

Making sure young visitors to the library’s bookmobile have crayons and coloring books for the summer reading program was selected by the Exchange Club of Bowling Green for their May project. The 2025 theme is “Color Our World,” so club members contributed over 100 coloring books, crayons, and colored pencils for the bookmobile to give to visitors during the summer months.

“This will help me serve our littlest patrons,” said  Lauren Canaday Johnson, outreach coordinator for Wood County District Public Library. “These supplies directly affect early literacy development and help with practicing fine motor skills, and I’ve seen how something as simple as a coloring book and crayons can really provide a safe activity for children. I appreciate the donation very much.”

Exchange Club members have been collecting coloring books and crayons during the month of May and bringing them to Beckett’s during the club’s lunch meetings. On May 20, all the materials were donated to the bookmobile.
