Habitat for Humanity to dedicate two homes built during Mike Cray Blitz Build in Bradner

From HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF WOOD COUNTY

Habitat for Humanity of Wood County has announced the dedication of two homes that were built during the “2025 Mike Cray Blitz Build,” a high-impact project dedicated to providing affordable housing for two families. Habitat for Humanity of Wood County will dedicate two new homes for the Dowden and Patton families on Thursday, July 31, at 5:30 p.m., at 401 W. Lightner St., Bradner.

The public is invited to attend for tours of the homes, light refreshments, and for the dedication ceremony.

The Mike Cray Blitz Build was a home-building initiative in which two homes were constructed simultaneously in Bradner. In 2025, Habitat for Humanity of Wood County partnered with Ridge Stone Builders, Lakeside Interiors, and community volunteers to make homeownership a reality for the Patton and Dowden families.

These homes mark the 56th and 57th homes built by Habitat for Humanity of Wood County, a milestone in its mission to create safe, affordable housing.

Habitat for Humanity of Wood County partners with people in Wood County and all over the world to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Since its inception, Habitat for Humanity of Wood County has built 57 homes and completed many critical home repairs for families in need.  To learn more, please visit https://wchabitat.org.

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity found its earliest inspirations as a grassroots movement on an interracial community farm in south Georgia. Since its founding in 1976, the Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and more than 70 countries.

Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. “Through shelter, we empower.” To learn more, visit habitat.org.
