Since his arrival, Dr. Ted Haselman, with the full backing of the School Board, has demonstrated time and again his passion for leading, listening, communicating and to be sure, building for an even stronger future for our schools. He and the School Board have worked tirelessly and unitedly in strengthening the schools, physically and programmatically. The strong passage of the levy for a new high school is a positive indicator of that working relationship.
Much of this progress can be attributed to strong, steady leadership by two school board presidents. Ryan Myers and Norm Geer have been visible, engaged and deeply involved in both school and community activities. Their presence is felt not only at Board of Education meetings, but throughout the community – at events, in conversations with residents, and in their on-going partnership with city leadership. Both have been unusually attentive to the myriad details involved with the construction of the new high school.
I have long believed that the success of a community and its schools are inseparable. When our schools thrive, our city thrives. As a longtime supporter of the BG School District with strong family Bobcat Proud ties, it has been heartening to see the district moving forward with purpose and strong leadership, integrity and collaboration. Unquestionably, Ryan and Norm have been there every step of the way in common footing with the other members of the Board and the Superintendent.
I sincerely hope the voters of BG will consider the re-election of both Ryan Myers and Norm Geer to the School Board on Election Day, November 4.
