From BEN’S

Ben’s, in downtown Bowling Green, will be celebrating 50 years in business from April 15 – 22. To thank their many loyal customers, Ben’s will be offering special savings each day of the week-long event – with some deals including 1970s pricing. Other happenings include:

  • Play Ben’s BINGO in the days leading up to the anniversary on April 22 to win prizes.
  • The 50th purchasing customer each day from April 15 – 22 will receive a free gift.
  • Look for “Flat Floyd,” a life-size cutout of founder Floyd Craft, and take a selfie. Post and tag Ben’s to win prizes. Get a selfie with the real Floyd Craft and get a double-entry.
  • There will be free balloons for kids. If parents also make a purchase, each child will also receive a free toy from the “Toy Table.”
  • Social media contests to win prizes will happen all week long.
  • There will be super-savings on customer favorites like the candy, frame, and toy shops. Offers will be posted each day on social media and in-store.
  • Free popcorn will be available all day on the anniversary, April 22.
  • A ribbon-cutting will take place on April 22 at 11 a.m. to officially kick-off the next 50 years of Ben’s.

Originally opened under the name Ben Franklin, Ben’s was opened in April 1976 by husband and wife, Floyd and Charlotte Craft, and their three daughters. The store has been a fixture in the Bowling Green community since opening in 1976.

First considered a Five & Dime, Ben’s carried items such as clothing, jewelry, housewares, and every day sundries. Over the years, it has evolved time and again to meet its customers’ needs. At one time, the store featured one-hour photo development as well as many different categories of merchandise.

Today, Ben’s features a nostalgic candy shop, custom framing, a toy department, office supplies, craft and floral, party supplies, greeting cards, The Busy Thimble (a quilting and yarn shop within a shop), a UPS shipping location, and more. Ben’s remains a family-owned retail store known for its customer service and support of the downtown Bowling Green community.
