Perrysburg Alliance Church to celebrate 50 years of worship

Perrysburg Alliance Church will be celebrating 50 years of worship in 2026.

From PERRYSBURG ALLIANCE CHURCH

Perrysburg Alliance Church (PAC) will be celebrating 50 years of God’s faithfulness this summer.

PAC began as an extension ministry of Westgate Chapel of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (CMA) under the leadership of Reverend William J. Carey. The first church services were held on June 6, 1976, at the Pine Street Elementary School – now known as Frank Elementary. On Sept. 15, 1976, 74 people became charter members.

In the late fall of 1976, a permanent church facility at 728 Mulberry St. was obtained. PAC also rented the house next to the church for Sunday school and youth meetings. On April 1, 1977, Reverend John E. Bock began his PAC ministry.

Construction was completed on the current site of PAC in May of 1979. A multi-purpose building was dedicated, debt-free, on Sunday, May 26, 1985. Further additions were built in 1998.

After 24 years as senior pastor, in July of 2001, Bock was called to pastor a church in Amherst, New York. Reverend Thomas George, pastor of Evangelism and discipleship since Sept. 1999, was installed as the senior pastor on April 14, 2002. During his ministry, a new sanctuary was constructed to accommodate a greater number of people.

George served as senior pastor until August of 2012. At that point, he began serving as the district superintendent of the Great Lakes district of the CMA. Over the next 3+ years after his departure, two different senior pastors served short tenures at PAC.

On Oct. 4, 2015, current Senior Pastor Reverend Brian Elmer was installed. During Elmer’s ministry, maintenance renovations of the church facility have occurred.

Since the fall of 2021, members have been active with LifeWise Academy with PAC hosting one of the teaching facilities.

Current church worship services and PACKids (birth – 5th grade) are held on Sundays at 10:30 a.m.
