From WOOD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
Wood County is under a “Slight Risk” (2 of 5) for severe weather today, May 18, and Tuesday, May 19.
Today will be humid, with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s this afternoon. Winds will be out of the south-southwest at 15-20 mph with 25 mph gusts. The main concern today will be the development of thunderstorms late this afternoon into the evening hours, 5 – 9 p.m., which will bring the potential for lightning, hail larger than one inch in diameter, and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph with an estimated quarter-inch of rain.
Wood County EMA is aware of outdoor sporting events throughout the county today and encourages everyone to make sure they are “weather aware” with multiple ways to receive emergency notifications.
