Senator Gavarone announces funding in Capital Budget Bill for northwest Ohio

State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) announced the investment of $3.7 billion to support local projects across Ohio, including millions into the 2nd Senate District.

State Senator Theresa Gavarone, R-Bowling Green, announced the investment of $3.7 billion to support local projects across Ohio, including millions into the 2nd Senate District. These dollars were included in Senate Bill 450, the Capital Budget Bill, which was passed by the Senate on June 3.

“I am thrilled to see the state continuing to invest in our local communities,” said Gavarone. “These capital dollars will help push some of these projects over the finish line, and I look forward to seeing the real impact in my district.”

The capital budget invested into the following projects in Wood County:

  • BGSU Law Enforcement Training Center
  • Grand Rapids Townhall Theater
  • Northwood Inclusive Playground
  • Chessie Circle Trail extension
  • Pratt Land Grand Park Project
  • Enright Park improvements
  • Joint Watershed Greenhouse and Research Lab
  • Owens State Center of Emergency Preparedness
  • Perrysburg Township Park

The legislature generally passes a capital budget every two years, funding improvements to public services and facilities across the state, including schools, infrastructure, and mental health and addiction facilities.

Senate Bill 450 includes:

  • $645 million for the Public Works Commission
  • $611 million for the School Facilities Commission
  • $425 million for higher education institutions
  • $385 million for the Department of Behavioral Health
  • $265 million for the Department of Natural Resources

The capital budget now goes to the Ohio House of Representatives for further consideration.
