Brian Shaver, Democratic candidate for Ohio’s 5th Congressional District, announced a district-wide series of listening sessions designed to engage voters directly and foster open dialogue. The “Tacos and Transparency Tour” will include events in all nine counties of the district, each hosted at a local taco-serving restaurant on Tuesday evenings.

“I believe representatives must put people before party and stay present and accountable to their communities,” said Shaver. “This is in stark contrast to my opponent, who has not held a town hall in well over a decade.”

The tour builds on Shaver’s May campaign kick-off at Mi Tequilas in his hometown of Fostoria. Upcoming listening sessions will be held in Wood, Crawford, Hancock, Huron, Lorain, Richland, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wyandot counties, offering residents an opportunity to share their concerns and priorities.

“I want to hear from constituents from all sides of the aisle,” Shaver said. “An open, civil dialogue is necessary for our democracy to thrive and for us to restore the true meaning of ‘We the People’ to our federal government.”

The first event in the series will take place in Crawford County on Tuesday, June 30, from 7 – 9 p.m., at Mi Cerrito, 741 Portland Way S., Galion.

Additional events include:

  • Lorain County on July 14, from 7 – 9 p.m., at Tacos del Pueblo in North Ridgeville
  • Seneca County on July 21, from 7 – 9 p.m., at Xcaret Mexican Restaurant in Tiffin
