The Four of Us will present the next program of the “Rhythm on the River” arts series in Grand Rapids on Sunday, Aug. 2, at 4 p.m. The programs are held in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River, at the end of Lincoln Street, behind LaRoe’s Venue. The programs are sponsored by the Grand Rapids Historical Society and are free and open to the public.
The Four of Us is a new ensemble featuring Lori Lefevre, vocals; Lisa Young, vocals, piano; Chris Buzzelli, guitar; and Kevin Eikum, bass. These four musicians each bring their own experience and artistry to the stage performing jazz, vocal numbers, and popular music. They create a sound that blends four-part harmony, popular songs, and a variety of jazz styles.
Lefevre is a highly-regarded free lance vocalist in the area and is a member of the jazz group 6th Edition. She is the jazz voice instructor at the Toledo School for the Arts. Young also sings with 6th Edition and sings with the Monroe Big Band and Masterworks Chorale. Buzzelli is a member of the Toledo Jazz Orchestra and often performs with the Toledo Symphony. He has taught at BGSU and the University of Michigan. Eikum also belongs to 6th Edition and the Toledo Jazz Orchestra and performs with the group Boffo.
Everyone is invited to bring their lawn chairs or blankets and join the historical society alongside the Maumee River and enjoy the jazz and vocal harmony ensemble.
In case of rain, the program will be moved to the old fire station, farther west on Front Street.
