Bolan Xu named September ‘Student of the Month’

The Bowling Green Exchange Club and Bowling Green High School are proud to announce that Bolan Xu has been selected as the September 2026 Student of the Month. Bolan is a senior at Bowling Green High School and will graduate on May 23. He is the son of Shumin Ji and Yamin Xu.

Bolan’s school honors and activities include membership in the National Honor Society and BGHS STEAM Club. He is a four-year member of the BGHS Orchestra, serves as co-president of the cello section, and is a member of the Chamber Orchestra. Bolan has earned Superior Ratings at four OMEA District Solo and Ensemble Festivals and has twice been selected for the OMEA District 1 Orchestra Honors Festival. He was also selected to deliver a TEDx talk focused on creativity, problem-solving, and embracing limitations.

Outside of school, Bolan has a strong interest in engineering, computer science, and research. He works with a Bowling Green State University professor on FPGA design and digital systems, developing a custom neural network for wireless communication applications. Through STEAM Club and Science Olympiad, he has earned top placements in machines, engineering CAD, electric vehicle, and circuit Lab. He has also designed and built a remotely controlled delivery robot for BGHS. Additionally, Bolan was a BGHS representative at Buckeye Boys State, where he was elected attorney general and managed an office of seven.

Bolan has earned a 4.478 GPA and has a composite ACT score of 35. He also earned perfect scores on the Ohio state geometry and American history end-of-course exams. After graduation, Bolan plans to study electrical engineering in college, with MIT as his dream school, along with Michigan and Carnegie Mellon.
