From OHIO LAKE ERIE COMMISSION
The Lake Erie Community Grant program is now accepting applications for projects that help strengthen communities and fuel long-term environmental and economic resilience across the Lake Erie region.
“The Ohio Lake Erie Commission is excited to offer this funding to support local partners in carrying out projects that restore vital natural resources,” said OLEC Executive Director Joy Mulinex. “It’s inspiring to see community leaders and residents come together to create lasting change.”
Powered by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative through a partnership with the U.S. EPA, these grants help local groups tackle priorities like cleaner water, healthier habitats, and more resilient coastlines. By backing locally-led solutions, the program, in partnership with the Black Environmental Leaders Association and Rural Action, strengthens communities and encourages collaboration.
This round offers grants between $150,000 and $350,000, giving communities a boost to tackle projects that show measurable local impact and strong environmental results using GLRI’s progress measures.
Eligible projects include:
- Community development and revitalization efforts that enhance public space or improve quality of life
- Environmental restoration, conservation, and protection projects that improve water quality, restore natural habitat, or reduce pollution sources
- Education or outreach initiatives that support stewardship across Lake Erie and its watershed
- Infrastructure or planning projects that advance community resilience
