For the past 28 years, the citizens of Wood County have been well-served by the Honorable David Woessner as Judge of the Common Pleas Court, Probate and Juvenile Division. Thank you, Judge Woessner.
Fortunately, and happily, two outstanding and community-minded lawyers are vying to replace the soon-to-be-retired Judge Woessner – Doug Ruck of Pemberville and Megan Newlove of Bowling Green. We are confident that either candidate will be a good, fair-minded judge.
From our perspective, however, we sincerely believe that the best person to succeed Judge Woessner is Megan Newlove on the basis of her extensive community involvements, specifically with Bowling Green City Government and Bowling Green State University as well as her 25 years as a practicing attorney.
Megan served with distinction for nine years on the BGSU Board of Trustees, including as president from 2017-18. She has also served as a member of Bowling Green City Council from 2004-2009, including four years as council president and as a 14-year member of the city’s Board of Public Utilities. And, to be sure, as BG Mayor, I was especially grateful to Megan for chairing a major task force as part of the BG City – BGSU visioning process in 2012, which I co-initiated with then BGSU President Dr. Mary Ellen Mazey.
Most importantly, she has established herself as a well-respected attorney with extensive experience in representing clients with probate, estate planning, and family-related legal needs and issues.
In summary, we sincerely believe that Megan Newlove is well-prepared by background and experience to be the next judge of the Wood County Probate and Juvenile Court.
