Halloween weekend was particularly harrowing in Bowling Green, with the police division filing 385 reports between noon and Friday (Oct. 30) and 7:30 a.m. Monday (Nov. 2). Several of the calls involved fights and alcohol offenses.

Shortly after Halloween arrived, at 12:19 a.m., police responded to a fight in a restaurant in the 200 block of North Main Street. A woman dressed as a pirate was reportedly in the restroom fixing her costume with a male, when a group of females began loudly knocking on the door and yelling. When the pair emerged from the restroom, two women reportedly began hitting the pirate, who also engaged in the fighting.

All three women involved were cited for disorderly conduct-fighting.

A few minutes later, at 12:26 a.m., police responded to a fight at a bar in the 200 block of North Main Street, after an argument began between two females – one reportedly a bartender and one a patron who allegedly wasn’t being served quickly enough.

According to the police report, the bartender came out from behind the bar, pulled hair extensions out from the patron’s hair and kicked her in the head. A bouncer reported seeing multiple people on the bar floor pulling each other’s hair, but did not see the initial aggressor.

No charges were issued, but may be forthcoming once video from the bar is viewed by police.

About an hour later, at 1:32 a.m., police responded to a fight at a bar in the 100 block of East Wooster Street. A male told officers that a man dressed as Woody from Toy Story bumped into him, and they started to argue. The male said Woody struck him in the face. Police tried to speak with Woody, who reportedly started vomiting. He was cited for disorderly conduct-fighting, and a friend came to the bar to take him home.

At the same time, an officer on routine patrol of the downtown area spotted a male yelling and getting in the face of another man in the 200 block of East Wooster Street. The male reportedly threw his shirt down on the sidewalk and followed the other man as he tried to walk away. A witness said the male tried to punch the other man, but missed.

Then at 3:15 a.m., four females were cited for disorderly conduct-fighting in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 300 block of East Wooster Street. Video from the establishment showed some of the women initially trying to pull people away from the fight, but ending up joining the fight.

Later Halloween night, around 11:41, another woman wearing a Joker (or Harley Quinn) costume was cited for disorderly conduct-fighting after a witness said she punched her friend in the face in the 100 block of East Wooster Street. The woman punched reportedly had swelling around her eye.

And later that night, at 12:45 a.m., two females were cited for disorderly conduct-fighting outside a restaurant in the 200 block of East Wooster Street. When an officer arrived on the scene, the two women were wrestling and hitting each other – and a large group of people were congregating around them, many recording the fight on their phones.

One of the women was taken to Wood County Hospital due to her level of intoxication and cuts to her hands, knees and elbows.
