From SCOUTING AMERICA ERIE SHORES COUNCIL
Hundreds of local Scouts will get hands-on experience in STEM-related principles, including engineering, science, design planning, and construction at the 35th annual Construction City event, hosted by the Erie Shores Council of Scouting America.
Scouts in grades 4 and 5 are invited to participate in one of two divisions, city building or bridge building, both of which involve a “permitting” process before building can begin. Scouts may only use the provided materials of cardboard, tape, and tools to complete their builds.
City building will require Scouts to build structures on an eight-feet by eight-feet plot. Bridge building will require Scouts to build a bridge spanning twelve feet that can hold scale weights, while controlling the structure weight.
This event aims to be fun and challenging and will require safety, learning, teamwork, and planning.
The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Penta Career Center, 9301 Buck Road, Perrysburg.
