Three months ago, State Senator Randy Gardner, the Senate Majority Floor Leader, R-Bowling Green, sponsored a state budget amendment establishing a new fund to support local governments in the fight against opiate addiction. Today, Wood County was awarded $100,000 to enhance the fight in the county.
The Wood County Quick Response Team Collaborative, led by Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson, received the competitive grant as announced by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office today in Strongsville.
“I’m pleased that Wood County’s comprehensive approach to working on this critical issue won support for grant funding,” Gardner said. “I have confidence that the Wood County team will do everything it can to make a real difference in battling this epidemic.”
A total of $3 million statewide will go to local law enforcement agencies. Grant recipients will partner with treatment providers and may also include fire departments, emergency management providers, faith-based leaders, children’s services organizations and health agencies in their efforts.
