In 1968 humans orbited around the moon for the first time in history, and the Bowling Green Curling club threw its very first rocks. On Jan. 9, the Black Swamp Curling Center will be the celebrating the 50th anniversary of curling in Northwest Ohio, and the public is invited to join in all of the festivities.
Curlers will be playing a 50 end – 15 hour long game (Saturday 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.). Curlers from across the region will be competing in a curling tournament all day Saturday and there will be a Saturday evening celebration with cake and a crokinole tournament.
The 9th End Bar will have 50 beers for 50 years – with a new beer released every 15 minutes. On Sunday the public is especially invited to a History Happy Hour from 12-2 p.m. complete with historical curling displays and a bagpiper.
Curling, played with granite rocks and brooms on ice, is one of the fastest growing sports in America, and the United States has high hopes that the US curling teams will bring home medals at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics.
The Black Swamp Curling Center is the largest dedicated curling venue in Ohio with four sheets of ice, The 9th End bar and a warm lounge where visitors are always welcome to watch curling through the viewing glass. The BG Curling Club holds regular Learn to Curl classes and leagues.

The Black Swamp Curling Center is run by the Bowling Green Curling Club, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3). The club offers curling classes, weekly league play, youth programs and private curling rentals. New curlers are always welcome.
