The Cocoon, Wood County’s only domestic and sexual violence agency, remains committed to serving survivors throughout our community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we have looked at all scenarios and risks and continue to be committed to the health and well-being of you, our staff, their families, the survivors we serve as we continue to carry out our mission.
Therefore, the following will be in effect until Oct. 31:
- Our doors will remain closed to visitors.
- Staff must wear masks at all times.
- Staff must take temperature upon arrival for their shift.
- Staff must report to their supervisor if they are having COVID symptoms.
- Staff must disinfect the shelter and administration side of the building every 8 hours.
- All in-person events through Dec. 31 are canceled. Some events may become virtual.
- Meetings must be conducted virtually whenever possible.
- When meeting with survivors, staff and survivors must wear a mask and follow social distance guidelines.
- If a survivor does not have access to a mask, The Cocoon will provide one.
- Anyone wishing to drop off donations should call and schedule an appointment at 419-373-1730, ext. 1002.
- All programs and services are still available, though conducted remotely whenever possible.
- Cocoon advocates are available to assist survivors obtaining Civil Protection Orders, support at hearings, and to meet survivors at area hospitals.
- Anyone needing crisis or other support should call our 24/7 crisis line at 419-373-1730 and select option #2 for immediate assistance.
