Teachers and school staffs to get Pfizer vaccine on Feb. 19

Educators and staff at Wood County schools will receive the Pfizer vaccine next Friday.

An estimated 3,000 people will receive their first doses of the vaccine, according to Wood County Health Commissioner Ben Robison.

The period between Pfizer doses is 21 days, so the school employees will return for their second doses on March 12.

The vaccines will be given at six sites in the county – three public school districts and three private schools.

“It’s quite a feat,” Robison said of the plan to vaccinate nearly 3,000 on Feb. 19. “We’re really fortunate to have support across the education community.”

Approximately 150 volunteers have signed up to help with the vaccination process.

“There are many people anxious to help,” including Wood County Hospital and Mercy Health, Robison said.
