The still unidentified man killed in a house fire north of Bowling Green on Feb. 12 had a gunshot wound, according to Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn.
The gunshot wound was in the leg, and appears to be accidental, the sheriff said this morning. The cause of death has been determined as the fire – not the gunshot wound, he said.
Wasylyshyn said the resident of the house was known to be a “gun guy,” with several firearms in the home.
The Wood County Coroner is still working to positively identify the man, Wasylyshyn said.
The fire at the southwest corner of Brim and Hannah roads was called in around 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 12 by someone driving by the scene. By time the first fire department arrived, flames were shooting through the roof, Wasylyshyn said.
