A high-speed chase in Bowling Green this morning reportedly ended with a crash.

Around 1 a.m., a Bowling Green Police Division officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near the intersection of Poe Road and North Main Street. When the vehicle did not stop for the officer, a pursuit began southbound on Main Street.

Because of the high rate of speed, the officer discontinued the pursuit since the vehicle was headed toward the downtown area, which is often busy on Fridays at 1 a.m., explained BGPD Lt. Adam Skaff.

However, a Ohio State Patrol trooper in the downtown area saw the vehicle speeding through on Main Street and picked up the pursuit.

The driver of the vehicle turned east on Napoleon Road, drove through a chain link fence and partially overturned in a backyard in the 100 block of Napoleon Road, Skaff said.

The driver reportedly tried to run, but was apprehended.

Further information will be posted when available.
