With winter approaching, the City of Bowling Green reminds citizens of responsibilities and regulations associated with winter weather. The city has several designated “snow streets” throughout the city. These streets are marked with blue and white signs. A list of street is also available on the city’s website at www.bgohio.org.
Any vehicle parked on a snow street must be removed within two hours after accumulation of two inches of snow. Vehicles parked in violation of snow regulations are subject to towing at owner’s expense and/or a citation. Even if you don’t live on a snow street, it is very helpful to remove vehicles from the street whenever possible. Doing so will expedite the road snow removal process.
Bowling Green property owners are required to clear snow and ice from sidewalks abutting their premises within 24 hours after the abatement of any storm during which snow and ice have accumulated. Failure to clear sidewalks may result in a citation. The city may also have its contractor clear the sidewalk and bill all incurred costs to the property owner.
Citizens and plowing contractors should not shovel, plow, or blow snow onto the city streets when clearing snow from sidewalks and driveways. This delays the process of clearing city streets and is prohibited.
