Seasonal sounds to resound in First United Methodist Church during Advent

The First United Methodist Church, 1526 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green, will host a series of Advent musical events through Dec. 17.

The Bowling Green Ministerial Association Community Thanksgiving Service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. at the church. The service will feature a combined choir, made up of members of Ministerial Association churches. An offering of non-perishable food items is requested.

First United Methodist will also host a weekly Advent series on Tuesdays:

  • The Joyous Sounds concert will be held  Dec. 3 at 7 p.m., featuring the University Choral Society, the BGSU Graduate Brass Quintet, and the Collegiate Ringers Bell Choir. This concert started in 2017 that has become a traditional beginning of the holiday season. 
  • A Choral Evensong service will be held with music, scripture, and prayer Dec. 10, at 7 p.m.. This service will focus on our preparation for the coming of Christ.
  • A service of lessons and carols featuring the BGHS Madrigal singers, under the direction of Beth Vaughn, will be held Dec. 17  at 7 p.m. It will be an evening of scripture readings and favorite carols.
