From TOLEDO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Toledo Symphony Orchestra will present vocalist AJ Lambert, granddaughter of Frank Sinatra will perform with the Toledo Symphony on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. at the Peristyle Theater as part of the KeyBank Pops Series.
“I’ve been a huge fan of Frank Sinatra most of my life,” says Zak Vassar, President & CEO of the Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts. “And ‘Only the Lonely’ remains one of Frank’s finest concept albums with songs like ‘Angel Eyes,’ ‘One for My Baby,’ and ‘Willow Weep for Me.’ It’ll be magical to recreate that original album, note-for-note, with Frank’s granddaughter and the Toledo Symphony.”
AJ Lambert, daughter of Nancy Sinatra and granddaughter of Frank Sinatra entered the music world at a very young age. In her early years growing up in Los Angeles, Lambert performed in several bands, both singing and playing bass. She later went on to study as a screenwriter at the University of Southern California while performing as a bassist, founding the Los Angeles-based band, Sleepington.
After starting her band, Lambert produced her mother Nancy Sinatra’s self-titled 2004 record, co-writing the song “Bossman.” The two performed it together as part of a guest stint on the popular HBO television series, “The Sopranos.”
As her musical career took off, AJ Lambert developed a vested interest in reviving the art of song interpretation, the sole musical trait she feels she has in common with her grandfather, Frank Sinatra.
Lambert released her original music on her first full length solo LP, “Careful You” (2019) which earned international success in both the US and UK. The album includes unique, poignant interpretations of songs by artists such as Spoon and TV on the Radio, as well as Frank Sinatra’s “Sleep Warm,” “Ebb Tide,” and more. In October 2021 she released “Lonely Songs,” an EP celebrating the 60th anniversary of Sinatra Sings for “Only the Lonely.”
