Habitat for Humanity of Wood County Ohio hosted the 6th Annual Hockey for Habitat Fundraiser on Sept. 25. Despite the rain on Saturday morning, six teams came out to play ball hockey at Bowling Green City Park.

In addition to the hockey tournament, the fundraiser included an online auction in partnership with Don Rose Auctions and Realty, as well as a TV raffle. All funds raised support Habitat’s mission to individuals and families in Wood County to secure decent and affordable housing through its homeownership and home repair programs.

Prior to the tournament teams competed in a fundraising challenge. The highest fundraising team was Premier Bank who was awarded 1st pick in the free agent draft. The team selected Kyle Page who helped lead the team to a Championship victory.

During the double elimination tournament, free agents Ryan Wichman, Kyle Rogers, Jeremy Bronson and Iain Duncan played alongside the teams as well.

Mark Ohashi shared: “This event is more than just about hockey. It’s about housing. Everyone who came out today as well as our sponsors and auction supporters are helping another family secure the decent housing they need.”
