Marking the 100th anniversary of the first band at BGSU, the university’s foundation has launched Banding Together, a $2 million fundraising campaign.
The campaign was announced during Homecoming this weekend. The theme was Marching Forward.
The money raised will benefit the entire band program – the Falcon Marching Band, the Athletic Band, the Wind Ensemble, the Symphony Band, and the Concert Band.
The $2 million will pay for:
Falcon Marching Band Field Project, $1.5 million. The turf field will provide an all-weather practice field for the band which will be available for other activities. Also, includes a teaching tower.
Falcon Band Marching Band Fund, $300,000, to support the purchase and maintenance of instruments, especially Sousaphones, trombones, mellophones, and a new sound system.
BGSU Bands Endowment Fund, $200,000,to support band program initiatives, including special projects, music commissions, guest artists, recruitment, and travel.
