Barbara “Barb” J. Waters, 84, of Bowling Green, surrounded by love and in the comfort of her home, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on September 28, 2026. She was born May 4, 1942, to George William and Margaret Jean (Petteys) Smithers in Toledo, Ohio. She later graduated from Anthony Wayne High School.
On October 5, 1963, she married John Thomas Waters in Perrysburg, Ohio. Barb and John raised two daughters and celebrated nearly 63 years of marriage together.
In addition to being a homemaker and caring for her family, Barb also worked outside the home at various salons as a hairdresser. She ended her career as a self-employed hairdresser, providing services from her home.
A woman of strong faith, Barb attended Dayspring Church in Bowling Green. Barb had a generous heart, always thinking of others and putting them before herself. Above all, Barb’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends and celebrating life’s special moments together. She was always there for the people she loved, offering her support, encouragement, and love through all of life’s moments.
She especially enjoyed Christmas and celebrating the birth of her Savior, and she greatly enjoyed giving gifts throughout the year. She also loved dressing up for special occasions and adding a little “bling” to her look. For Barb, being surrounded by the people she loved and sharing in celebrations of all kinds created her happiest memories.
In addition to her husband, John, Barb is survived by her daughters, Jean (Xavier) Baldonado of Rossford and Sandra Waters of Bowling Green; and her grandson, Jarret Baldonado. She is also survived by her daughters of the heart, Henrietta (Xavier) Cranson and Tonia Saunders, as well as many grandchildren, all of whom she welcomed into her heart and considered her own. Barb was preceded in death by her parents.
Barb will be laid to rest at a private family committal service at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, 4210 W. Central Avenue, Toledo, Ohio. Officiating will be Pastor Steve Davis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barb’s memory to Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, reflecting her love of Christmas, giving, and sharing God’s love with others.
