The month of February started with some new faces visiting the Ag Department at Bowling Green City Schools. Eighth grade recruitment allowed the FFA program to introduce the incoming freshman to Agricultural Education and FFA.
Members of the chapter volunteered their time to inform and present about different aspects of the chapter. Paired with this was eighth grade parent night which allowed for the parents of the eighth graders to get more information about the Bowling Green FFA during an open house held at the high school.
Also last month, the Ag Sales team competed in the district competition at Redline Equipment in Sherwood. Team members were Addie Naus, Annie Urban, Shawn Carney, Gavin Roessner and Casey Naus. This contest involved the team members completing an individual sales demonstration as well as a group activity to develop a pre-call plan. The team placed sixth and Annie placed second as individual in the contest.
February ended with National FFA Week and the February monthly meeting. The chapter had themed dress up days for members to participate in. The themes were flannel Tuesday, Tractor Wednesday (students would wear their favorite tractor color), FFA Spirit Wear Thursday where students wore their favorite FFA spirit, and finally USA Out Friday.
During FFA week there were also activities like find the FFA emblem where students had to find the emblem hidden around the school and an FFA celebration on Friday where the chapter’s officers led a trivia game as well as a create your own FFA emblem activity. The week ended with Bobcat-A-Thon, a philanthropy event raising money and awareness of Nationwide Children’s Hospital-Toledo.
The February FFA meeting consisted of a business meeting as well as the election of the chapter’s 2025-2026 FFA officers. The officers elected were:
Gavin Roessner-President
Shawn Carney-Vice President
Isabella Belleville-Secretary
Grace O’Connell-Treasurer
