BG Human Relations Commission condemns recent distribution of KKK flyers

The Bowling Green Human Relations Commission (HRC) strongly condemns the recent distribution of hate-filled flyers in Bowling Green by the Ku Klux Klan. These flyers, which promote racist, discriminatory, and violent ideologies, have no place in our community or our society.

“We stand united against hate, racism, and bigotry in all forms,” said Lindsay Jo Durham, chairperson of HRC. “The KKK’s presence in our community is an affront to the values of equality, justice, and respect for all individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or background. We will not allow these divisive and dangerous messages to go unchallenged.”

The KKK has a long and dark history of instilling fear, violence, and intolerance. Their actions are a direct threat to the peace and safety of our neighborhoods, and we urge all residents to report any hate speech, harassment, or intimidation to local authorities.

HRC is committed to fostering a community where everyone feels welcome, safe, and respected. We call on all individuals, organizations, and leaders in Bowling Green to join us in condemning these flyers and working together to combat hate in all its forms.

We stand in solidarity with all marginalized communities targeted by hate groups and vow to continue our efforts in building a more inclusive, compassionate society.

HRC promotes equality for and understanding among all people of the community and provides mediation through conferences and conciliation. As part of these efforts, Bowling Green has taken a proactive stance on enacting laws that protect against discrimination (Chapter 39 of the Bowling Green Codified Ordinances) as well as passing resolutions condemning violence and hate speech and proclaiming our community as safe and welcoming for all.
