BG Kiwanis requests your absence at ‘No-Show’ pancake breakfast

(Submitted by Kiwanis Club of Bowling Green)

The Kiwanis Club of Bowling Green needs your help in order to continue to support community needs, youth activities and to provide other crucial grants during the pandemic.

Usually, Kiwanis hosts twice-yearly pancake breakfasts to raise funds to support a myriad of club activities and community needs. But, right now, we need to keep the grills in storage and are making this appeal to you directly.

This year, with COVID-19 and social distancing, your absence is requested at our first-ever “No-Show” Pancake Breakfast. Instead of attending the usual pancake day event at the high school, we are asking you to show your support for Kiwanis efforts simply by staying home and fixing yourself some delicious pancakes as you send a monetary gift to Kiwanis.

No need to worry about buying tickets or participating in the 50/50 raffle, hiring a babysitter, finding a place to park, or wearing a mask. In return, we ask you to consider making a gift in an amount you would normally spend on tickets, raffles, or other items so the Kiwanis program will be able to continue thanks to your generosity.

We also encourage you to take a picture of you and/or your family eating pancakes at home to be entered to win one of two $25 Kroger gift cards. Enter by posting your picture on the BG Kiwanis Facebook page. Photo entries must be submitted by Dec. 6 for a chance to win.

Here are some ways your gift can make a difference:

• Support of the Black Swamp Arts Festival Youth Arts Tent

• Honoring local teachers through our Inspirational Educators Program

• Sponsoring Young Leaders and their service efforts at our K-Kids club at Conneaut Elementary, Builders Club at BGMS, Key Clubs at BGHS and Eastwood High School, Circle K Club at BGSU and our Aktion club through Woodlane

• Contribute to the building of the BG Youth Baseball Playground and team sponsorship

• Helping local youth enjoy Breakfast with Santa

• Sending local High School Students to Leadership development conferences

• Support of 1BookBG program

To support this “No-Show” effort, you can mail a check (payable to BG Kiwanis) to: Kiwanis, 305 N. Main St., Bowling Green, OH 43402. Please put “Pancakes” in the memo line.

So kick back, relax, enjoy some pancakes at home, and feel good knowing that your contribution will make a big difference in the lives of local children.
