BG man arrested after allegedly threatening to blow up courthouse

A Bowling Green man was arrested Tuesday (Feb. 17) for allegedly making a terroristic threat to court personnel.

Bowling Green Police were notified by Wood County Common Pleas Court that Thomas Giffin, 58, had reportedly called that court about paying a fine he owed. He was reportedly notified that he needed to contact Bowling Green Municipal Court, where the fine was due.

According to the police report, Giffin got upset and said he was ready to get on his bike and ride over to the court with his gun, and blow up the place.

Both the county and BG municipal courthouses were put on alert, and Giffin’s photo was posted around both buildings. Perrysburg Municipal Court was also notified, since Giffin has pending cases in that court.

Giffin was arrested and taken to Wood County Jail.
