BG man arrested for inducing panic after reportedly pointing gun toward multiple people

A Bowling Green man was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly brandishing a gun and pointing it toward multiple people.

Noah Swope, 42, was charged with two counts of inducing panic and disorderly conduct.

Bowling Green Police received several calls around 8 p.m. about a man with a firearm. One witness in a downtown bar said a man pulled out the gun in the bar. Other witnesses saw him pull out the gun in an alley, a downtown parking lot, and in front of two eating establishments on East Wooster Street.

Three people in a vehicle at the stoplight of East Wooster and Thurstin Street reported that a man walked behind the vehicle, then stood on the sidewalk and with both hands slightly raised the gun up toward them.

All the witnesses gave similar descriptions of the man.

Police located a man matching the description walking in the area of East Wooster and South College. Upon searching Swope, the officer reportedly found a fully loaded Daisy Powerline 426 BB gun in the man’s left front pocket, with 15 copper BBs inside his vest.

Swope reportedly smelled of alcohol and had difficulty balancing.

He reportedly denied having a firearm, even after the officer reminded him that a gun was just found in his pocket.

Multiple witnesses came to the location where Swope was stopped. All identified him as the man brandishing the gun.

Swope was transported to Wood County Hospital to be medically cleared due to his intoxication. He was then taken to the Wood County jail, where the officer advised staff that Swope will need a mental health evaluation when he is sober.
