A Bowling Green man was arrested this morning for unlawful restraint of a woman in his apartment.
Damien Angus Schooner, 32, of 400 Napoleon Road, was arrested after Bowling Green Police Division received a call from a woman asking officers to check on a friend. The caller said she had received a text from another woman saying she had been assaulted by Schooner.
When police arrived at the apartment, an officer reported hearing yelling in the apartment. As the initial officer waited for backup, he reportedly heard the woman inside repeatedly ask Schooner why he wouldn’t let her leave.
Initially, the woman reportedly told police that she and Schooner were just having a verbal argument. However, once alone with the officer, the victim said Schooner put his hands around her neck, and held her down in a bed to prevent her from leaving. The woman also said she hit Schooner in the face.
