What Are We Doing?
The world is in a terrible mess, especially the Mid-East. Yes, Iran has murdered large numbers of protesters and has sponsored terrorists to commit damage and death. Hamas ravaged Israel on October 7, killing many and kidnapping many others. Now the U.S. and Israel are pummeling Iran with devastating bombs and missiles killing private citizens and destroying infrastructure necessary to rebuild private lives. Israel has destroyed Gaza leaving citizens nowhere to live and no medical facilities to treat the wounded and non-combatants. And we wonder why U.S. and Israel are not trusted by many in the Mid-East.
If the goal of the U.S and Israel is to achieve regime change and regain the trust of the Palestinians and Iranians, and encourage private citizens to gain leadership, then why would we expect such a result when history has shown us that such action has not succeeded. How are the people of Iran and Gaza to gain authority, when they have no apparent leadership nor weapons to accomplish such a goal against the current leadership of Iran who has gunned down protesters? Gaza and much of its population have been displaced or impoverished without homes, food or other means of survival.
Have we lost all humanity so that we punish other humans with the hope that the leadership of these countries will depart?
You may ask me for the solution and I don’t have one. I just know the current strategy is a failed one. We can speak up, write Representative Latta, Senators Husted and Moreno and even the President. Speak, not argue, with neighbors. Let our disgust be known.
