A Bowling Green man has been cited after reportedly driving drunk with his young son in the vehicle, striking a pole on South Main Street, then leaving the scene.
Justin A. Miller, 39, of South Maple Street, was charged with two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence, lacking reasonable control, fleeing the scene of the accident and endangering a child.
Bowling Green Police Division was called Tuesday, around 7:16 p.m., about a vehicle that struck a pole and knocked down wires on South Main Street and Ordway Avenue. Dispatch was told the crash involved a “beat up” red truck, driven by a male with a beard and camo hat, with a young child in the vehicle.
The license plate belonging to Miller was left at the scene.
Police went to Miller’s home, where a red pickup was parked. The officer walked up to the truck to see if there was anyone inside who might need assistance. Two open cans of Keystone Beer were seen inside.
Miller was inside the home. According to the police report, there was a strong odor of alcohol in the residence and Miller’s speech was slurred, and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy.
A neighbor on Ordway told Miller that he drove into her yard and ran over a landscaping rock.
Miller’s 3-year-old son told police that his daddy crashed twice.
At the police station, Miller was given a breath test, and was told it was like blowing up a balloon. Miller reportedly told police he did not know what a balloon was, and that he did not know what he does for a living.
The breath test registered .281.
