BG man cited by police for alleged firearm and driving violations

Bowling Green Police charged a man with firearm and driving citations Saturday around 11 p.m.

Police pulled over Darnell Johnson, 21, of Bowling Green, in the 2100 block of East Wooster Street for an expired registration, and found his license was suspended.

Johnson reportedly told police there were no weapons in the car. However, police reportedly found in the center console a Glock magazine with one 9mm round in it, and an unsecured gun case behind the passenger seat with a loaded handgun inside.

Police also learned that Johnson has a “no contact” order in place, stating he cannot possess, use, carry or obtain a gun. He was cited for improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, and driving under suspension. He was taken to Wood County Jail.
