Why is Bob Latta being allowed to fail to address, at all, the many issues being raised by the actions of the Republican President Donald J. Trump and the Republican party.
Last time I checked he still claims to be the representative of Ohio’s 5th Congressional District. According to recent data, Ohio’s 5th Congressional District, represented by Bob Latta, has a population of approximately roughly 790,000+ residents. The district covers a largely rural, agricultural area in northern Ohio, along with various manufacturing hubs, across all or part of 12 counties, and includes counties such as Wood, Lorain, Seneca, and Hancock.
In fact he was elected to finish Paul Gillmor’s term when he died in 2007. Bob Latta was re-elected in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024.
He is due to be reelected in a few months and it is strangely quiet. Does he think that his constituents don’t have any questions? For example, given blatant Trump fiscal irresponsibility?
Starting with the “One Big Beautiful Bill” Bob Latta has not told his constituents why it was so important to give the very wealthiest Americans one trillion dollars in income tax savings? Especially, since the money was taken from programs for those who are among the poorest American citizens. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act made permanent many tax cuts Trump passed in 2017 during his first term assuring our national debt will continually get worse.
America is now $39,000,000,000,000 + in debt—yes, $39 trillion. It took roughly 200 years to accumulate the first $1 trillion. Now we add that in a matter of months. Every child in America today carries a $530,000 share of this debt—a crushing legacy we must reverse. Compounding the problem, we now spend more than $1 trillion a year just on interest to service our debt—more than the entire defense budget and triple the amount when Biden took office. The national debt continues to pose an existential threat to the future of our nation.
Columnist Jackie Calmes recently reported ….. “He is on a path to break his own record for the most debt in a single presidential term, 8.4 trillion in Trump 1.0, which was nearly double the increase under President Joe Biden.”
Trump tariffs deemed illegal by the U.S. Supreme Court are raising grocery prices.
An illegal war with Iran while ignoring the role of Congress to declare war. “We are fighting wars,” he told a group on April Fools’ Day. “We can’t take care of day care … Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things.” He cut one trillion dollars over ten years from Medicare and other health care in the “Big Beautiful Bill. He wants to raise military spending by increasing the current one trillion dollar Pentagon budget to 1.5 trillion dollars, the biggest year to year increase since World War II. We have money to invade and destroy things.
What does Bob think about saving Social Security, still more foreign “excursions,” Greenland, Cuba, Mexico, or a myriad of other issues that Republicans said in 2024 mattered to them. Well Bob, when are you going to tell us how you are representing Ohio’s 5th Congressional District on behalf of your constituents? What promises are you going to make to convince voters to re-elect you yet again? I for one am looking forward to hear what you have to say in a public forum.
