Two Bowling Green parents were charged with permitting child abuse Monday, after a boy ran to a neighbor’s home for help.
Sarah Ybanez, 30, and Tony Ybanez, 37, of 516 Napoleon Road, were arrested after a child ran from their home around 12:30 a.m. to a nearby apartment complex.
The resident at the complex reported to police that there was a knock at the door after midnight. “It was a young child,” the police report said. The child, age 15, asked the resident to call the police, according to Bowling Green Police Lt. Dan Mancuso.
The boy had bruises allegedly from being struck by his father and stepmother. The child had reportedly been struck so hard with a shoe that he had shoe imprints on his face and collarbone, plus reddened areas on his arms and hands, Mancuso said.
The parents were taken to the Wood County Justice Center, and the boy was released into the care of another family member.
