BG Police arrest couple after bar employee reportedly struck in head with beer bottle multiple times

Bowling Green Police arrested a couple Sunday morning after a staff member at a downtown bar was reportedly hit in the head multiple times with a beer bottle.

Keith Kirkendall, 34, of Bowling Green, was arrested for assault and obstructing official business. Danielle Kirkendall, 34, also of Bowling Green, was arrested for obstructing official business and disorderly conduct, being so intoxicated she was unable to care for herself.

Police were called to the bar in the 100 block of East Wooster Street around 2 a.m., after bar staff reported a couple causing problems in the establishment.

A bar employee reportedly told police that Keith Kirkendall had smashed a beer bottle into one person’s head, was pushed away by a staff member, then came up behind that employee and hit him in the head multiple times with a beer bottle.

Police later viewed video of the incident, which reportedly showed Keith Kirkendall hitting the bar employee with an object four times.

Police located the Kirkendalls at a gas station in the same block and attempted to ask them questions. Keith Kirkendall allegedly refused to answer any questions and attempted to run away from police.

As officers were arresting Keith Kirkendall, Danielle Kirkendall reportedly became belligerent. Both were taken to Wood County Jail. While being transported to jail, Keith Kirkendall allegedly told an officer that his arrest was unlawful since Bowling Green Police Division has no jurisdiction in the city.
