In the early hours of Thanksgiving morning, an intoxicated man reportedly walked into an apartment, ate some chips, and then bagged up some food to go.
Meanwhile, a resident of the apartment in the 100 block of South Prospect Street jumped out of a bedroom window to get away from the suspected burglar.
Bowling Green Police arrested Kain Brossia, 21, Jerry City, for burglary around 1:45 a.m. on Thursday. The suspect was found in Bowling Green City Parking Lot 2, holding lunchmeat and cheese.
Police had been called by a resident who heard footsteps in his apartment, then heard someone eating chips and opening up the refrigerator.
The resident, whose roommate was away for the holiday, asked who was in the apartment. When Brossia stated his name, and reportedly tried to open the locked door to the resident’s bedroom, the resident jumped out of the second story window and called police.
The resident told police he saw Brossia walking out of the front door of the apartment.
When police located Brossia in the nearby parking lot, he was reportedly carrying two plastic bags of food, and was intoxicated to the point that he could hardly stand on his own.
The resident identified the food as from his refrigerator. Brossia told police he bought the food from a convenience store, but the store name he provided does not exist in Bowling Green, according to the police report.
According to the police report, Brossia stated that he was never in the home and that he did nothing wrong.
When police went back to the apartment with the resident, there was a bag of chips on the table that Brossia is suspected of bringing in and eating there. The bag of chips was collected to be stored as evidence. The other food items were returned to the resident.
Brossia was transported to the Wood County jail, where he was refused due to his level of intoxication. He was then transported to Wood County Hospital to be medically cleared.
