Bowling Green Police arrested a man who allegedly drove his car onto the railroad tracks in the 500 block of Ridge Street, on Wednesday (2/12) around 2:40 a.m.
Nicolas Calderon, 21, of Bowling Green, was arrested for OVI with a blood alcohol content of 0.18, driving on the railroad tracks, and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. He was taken to Wood County Jail. The Honda Accord was towed from the tracks.
When the officer arrived on the scene, he found the vehicle stuck on the tracks. When Calderon got out of the car, he reportedly told the officer he had a firearm in his waistband. The officer removed the gun, which had a magazine with 10 rounds.
The police report noted Calderon smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and glassy eyes. Calderon reportedly told the officer he had not consumed alcohol, and said the beer can in the driver’s door cup holder was from a couple days before. Calderon reportedly said he had been downtown at a bar, where perhaps a friend spilled a drink on his shirt, leading to the smell. Then he allegedly said that he did have a couple beers at the bar.
When asked how he ended up on the tracks, Calderon reportedly said he just took a wrong turn.
