BG Police arrest one woman, two men for alleged roles in shoplifting

With the help of store video, a black wig left in the middle of the road, and being waved down by a man reportedly complicit with the crime, Bowling Green Police arrested three people on Sunday (9/15) for their roles in shoplifting from Aldi, in the 1000 block of South Main Street.

Stephanie Hummer, 39, Toledo, was arrested for theft/shoplifting more than $200 in items, and for a warrant from Lucas County. She was taken to Wood County Jail.

Ricardo Lewis, 46, Toledo, was arrested for complicity to theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and outstanding warrant from Wood and Lucas counties, and taken to Wood County Jail.

Keith Kochioan, 32, Toledo, was cited for complicity to theft and falsification.

Police were called to the store around 12:20 p.m., for the report of a cart full of items being stolen. Dispatch relayed that the Jeep used in the theft turned northbound on South Main Street, then eastbound onto Napoleon Road.

An officer noticed a black wig and brown hat, reportedly worn by Hummer, in the middle of the intersection of Napoleon Road and South Prospect Street. A citizen stopped the officer and said the Jeep was seen going northbound on South Summit Street.

According to the police report, Kochioan reportedly waved officers over in a parking lot in the 500 block of Clough Street. Kochioan said the Jeep was his, but he didn’t know what was going on, and he didn’t really know Hummer or Lewis. He reportedly said when the store manager came out to say Hummer’s credit card didn’t go through, Hummer got into the driver’s seat and drove through the grass at Aldi into the parking lot of Circle K South.

Kochioan reportedly gave police a fake name for Hummer, and when officers picked her up in the 500 block of East Wooster Street, Kochioan reportedly said she was not the woman involved in the shoplifting.

However, police found Hummer’s purse in the back of the Jeep. During the search of the purse, police reportedly observed two butane torches and three debit cards that did not have Hummer’s name. During the intake at the jail, a deputy located a white rock substance reportedly hidden in Hummer’s bra.

After being told he was going to jail, Kochioan reportedly stated he was having chest pains and requested an ambulance.

While in the emergency department, Kochioan told police that Lewis was calling on his phone. Police reportedly heard Lewis tell Kochioan that he was on East Wooster Street near McDonald’s. Police picked Lewis up there, and reportedly found two crack pipes and a silicone container with white residue in his pocket.
