Bowling Green Police responded to a report of a man and woman having a dispute outside a vehicle stopped in the 500 block of Sand Ridge Road, on Saturday (8/31) around 9:50 p.m.

Police ended up confiscating the driver’s license Paul Briner, 40, of Bowling Green, who reportedly denied driving the vehicle, refused to take a test for operating the vehicle while under the influence, and who told police he had never walked a straight line.

Briner initially told police he was a back seat passenger in the Chevy pickup, on the way home from the Fulton County Fair, when an argument ensued. He reportedly told police that from the back seat, he reached up and put the vehicle into park, and took the keys before exiting the pickup. Briner reportedly identified another person as the driver of the truck.

However, that man reportedly showed police that he wasn’t able to reach the gas pedals in the truck, nor could Briner, who is over 6 feet and over 300 pounds, fit in the back seat with all the items in the back.

According to the police report, witnesses told police that Briner was throwing beer cans out the window and driving in the opposite lanes of travel on the drive from Wauseon to Bowling Green.

Briner allegedly failed several field sobriety tests, and was taken to the police station for a breath test, which he reportedly refused. His license was confiscated and he was given a criminal warning for disorderly conduct.
