BG Police Division retrieves car reportedly stolen in Dayton

A car stolen in Dayton was retrieved by Bowling Green Police on Sunday (Oct. 25).

BG Police dispatch received a phone call around 6 p.m. from a Dayton man stating his red Dodge Charger had been stolen from his home, and that an app for the vehicle showed it was at a hotel in the 1600 block of East Wooster Street. City cameras videotaped the vehicle entering the city around 5:40 p.m., but didn’t identify the car as stolen because it didn’t have a license plate.

Hotel staff told police that no one had checked into the hotel around that time, except for regular customers who frequently stay there for business. The staff was unable to give police camera footage from the parking lot.

The car was towed from the hotel and put in a lot where the owner could pick it up after showing proof of ownership.
