BG Police investigating assault of man in downtown early Saturday morning

Bowling Green Police Division is investigating the assault of a man early Saturday in the 100 block of East Wooster Street.

An officer was flagged down around 1:57 a.m. for a man who was bleeding from his face and knee. He was reportedly headed home from downtown with two friends, when an unknown male punched him in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground.

Witnesses reported the male then ran across Main Street, and met up with two males in the 100 block of West Wooster Street, then ran into an alleyway.

Downtown cameras reportedly caught the assault, showing a man wearing jeans and a black shirt with white lettering on the front and back. A witness described the suspect as having light skin and dark hair. The video allegedly showed the man punch the victim’s head with a closed fist.

Other cameras caught some of the people running with the suspect, then getting into a silver Toyota parked near the police station. Police also requested video from the bar that the men were in prior to the attack.

The investigation is ongoing.
