Bowling Green Police were called to an apartment in the 1000 block of South Main Street Wednesday (11/13) around 10 p.m. for a report of domestic violence.
A woman was standing outside the apartment complex, and told police she didn’t know where the man who reportedly assaulted her had gone. When officers approached her apartment, they saw the door was open and the front window of the home was broken out.
Police did not find the man inside, but did find a 2-year-old boy in a bedroom.
The woman told police the man’s name was Michael Julian, however, police dispatch was unable to locate anyone with the name and description in LEADS – Law Enforcement Automated Data System.
The woman told officers that the man shoved her into closet doors, and struck her multiple times in the head. She reportedly fell to the ground, and he got on top of her and allegedly began hitting her multiple times. He also allegedly tightened his hands around her neck, making it difficult for her to breathe.
The woman said she told the man she was going to call the police. He left, then soon after returned and broke out the front window of the apartment. He then left the scene again.
Police took photos of injuries to the woman’s right bicep, lower back, both shoulders, face, neck and a bite mark on her left hand.
The case was forwarded to Wood County Children’s Services, and extra patrols were assigned to the apartment.
Then, shortly before midnight, police were dispatched to the 300 block of East Wooster Street for a man attempting to sell liquor to people in a parking lot. The responding officer remembered seeing the man earlier in the evening in the area of the South Main Street apartment.
The man told the officer he did not have an ID, but the officer noted that the man matched the description from the domestic violence incident. As the officer radioed for additional officers, the man reportedly began to run. Police ordered him to stop, but he reportedly ran through the Taco Bell parking lot, across South Enterprise Street toward Grant Street, then across East Clough Street, when officers lost sight of him.
Police then went to Taco Bell to see if the same man had entered the restaurant earlier. Camera footage reportedly showed him in the establishment around 11 p.m., when he sat at a table and looked out the window constantly.
Police obtained a snapshot of his face and clothing for possible identification. The case is ongoing.
