BG Police respond to report of woman crying in street; arrest man for domestic violence, strangulation

Bowling Green Police arrested a Georgia man Wednesday (9/11) for domestic violence and strangulation.

Police received a call from a resident in the 800 block of Sixth Street around 10:19 p.m., reporting that a woman was crying in the street.

When police arrived they found Jose Gervacio-Zamudio, 27, of Georgia, and his alleged victim. The woman said was trying to call her family when Zamudio took her phone. She told police that Zamudio then strangled her and punched her in the breast. In addition to redness on her neck, police recorded a red mark on her thigh, scratch on her arm, and bruises on her shins and hand.

She was treated on the scene by Bowling Green Fire Division.

Zamudio, who was in Bowling Green for a construction job, was taken to Wood County Jail.
